Summer League 2010Due to the overwhelming support of our veteran players and the interest of dozens of new players, New Orleans Ultimate Summer League 2010 is expanding to the largest format we have ever experienced! Here is the vital info: **Summer League will be CAPPED at 120 Players - Only the 1st 120 players to sign-up AND fill out a COMPLETE PROFILE on the website will be eligible to be drafted and play.**
FIELD SITE: We will be playing at Annunciation Square this summer. Annunciation Square is located at 800 Race St., next to the Saulet Aparment Complex. The field has lights and is maintained by NORD. Please be easy on the fields and respectful of the neighbors.
TIMES AND GAME FORMAT: Games will be played to 15 or until the 90 minute time cap expires, with a 5 minute half-time at 8 points. A soft-cap will be called at the 80 minute mark. A hard-cap will be called at the 85 minute mark (next score ends the game.) The first round of games begins promptly at 6:30 PM, and the second round begins at 8:00 PM. All players are advised to arrive to the fields 30 minutes before game time to warm up and meet with their team and captains.
SUMMER LEAGUE CHAMPION: The Summer League Championship Trophy will be awarded to the team with the best season record. This is to avoid the season ending playoff tournament being won by the team with the most available players on the day of the tourney, whether they be ringers or not. In the event that two (2) or more teams are tied for 1st place with identical records, tie-breakers will be used to determine the league champion. In order, the tie-breakers will be: head-to-head records, records against common opponents, most points scored and fewest points given up.
TOURNAMENT: We will still have a tournament on Saturday, July 31st, 2010, beginning at 10:00 am. However it will be a Hat Tournament, where we will invite all players and friends to participate in this all day event. In a Hat Tournament format, all players must wear a hat at all times (no cop out visors or bandanas - be creative) and the teams are randomly selected by pulling names from a hat. It is a good opportunity to meet some of the other players who you may have lined up against all season and find out what it is like to play WITH them for a change.
POST-GAME PARTIES: Be sure to come to our post-game parties at our sponsoring bars. We will be rotating bars this year, so please check the schedule. This is a great opportunity to relive the glory (or heartbreak) of the evening's games as well as a chance to get to know your teammates and pick the brains of the veteran players. In keeping with tradition of years past, the first $100 worth of draft beer (in pitchers) is FREE to league members.
*Important Note: The post-game party starts at approximately 9:30 pm after the games. To ensure that everyone gets a fair shot at the free alcohol, the party doesn't start until the league commish arrives.
